- About Me
In March 2020, Dr. Priscilla Pemu joined City of Hope in Atlanta, Georgia. As a hospitalist, Dr. Pemu provides care for City of Hope patients requiring hospitalization for medical issues. She is dedicated to exploring all available treatment options to help patients recover and safely resume their cancer treatment.
Dr. Pemu coordinates inpatient care and serves as the main point of contact for doctors, nurses and clinicians who are part of a patient’s care team. She is also the main physician for the patient and family members to contact during a hospital stay. Dr. Pemu evaluates and treats patients at the hospital and helps them transition back to their lives.
“Patients at City of Hope may be hospitalized for a variety of reasons including surgery, illness or treatment complications,” Dr. Pemu says. “My goal is to see that each patient’s medical needs are met and to keep them informed every step of the way through open communication.”
Dr. Pemu earned a medical degree from the University of Benin in Benin City, Nigeria. She completed a fellowship in anesthesia at the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Lagos, Nigeria. Dr. Pemu completed a residency in internal medicine and served as Chief Resident at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. She then earned a Master of Science in clinical research at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.
At the Morehouse School of Medicine, Dr. Pemu serves as a Professor of Medicine and Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine. She is an active member of several professional organizations including the American College of Physicians, Association of Black Cardiologists, American Heart Association and American Association of Diabetes Educators. She has worked in a variety of healthcare settings prior to joining City of Hope.
Outside of City of Hope, Dr. Pemu enjoys spending time with friends and family. She creates podcasts that feature amazing humans who she interviews. Dr. Pemu also enjoys exploring ways to weave culture into health care.
