About Me

Dr. Larry Ladi returned to the City of Hope team in April 2023 as an Intensivist at our hospital in Phoenix. In his role, he provides specialized care for critically ill patients in intensive care unit—those with life-threatening complications from cancer or its related treatments, as well as non-cancer-related acute diseases—as well as providing inpatient pulmonary consultations. Trained in both therapeutic and robotic bronchoscopy, Dr. Ladi also specializes in delivering life support and invasive-monitoring techniques as well as resuscitation.

After previously serving the City of Hope hospital system as an Interventional Pulmonologist and Critical Care Medicine Physician at our Tulsa hospital from 2017-2021 and as a Critical Care Fellow and Hospitalist at our Philadelphia hospital from 2011-2014, Dr. Ladi was inspired to rejoin the team because of its commitment to integrative care and close, multidisciplinary collaboration.

“At City of Hope, I have access to state-of-the-art technology and resources, which help me better facilitate delivery of cancer treatments,” says Dr. Ladi. “Patients benefit by receiving personalized cancer treatment combined with supportive therapies to help reduce side effects.”

After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from the University of Houston, Dr. Ladi received his medical degree from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine in Guadalajara, Mexico, then earned his Fifth Pathway Certificate from the New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He completed two residencies—in family medicine at the Genesis Family Medicine Residency Program in Davenport, Iowa, and in internal medicine at the Maine Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine in Portland, Maine. Further distinguishing his career and advancing his expertise, Dr. Ladi then finished three fellowships: in sleep medicine and pulmonary disease/critical care medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital/Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he also served as chief fellow, and as part of a fellowship training program in interventional pulmonology at The Ohio State University, Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Ladi brings to City of Hope two decades of experience in emergency, critical care and hospital medicine after working for a wide range of hospitals and health systems in Texas and the East Coast. His work has been extensively published in numerous journals and books, and he was awarded the American College of Chest Physicians Recognition Award for Outstanding Abstract in 2013.

Dr. Ladi is a member of many medical organizations, including the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American Thoracic Society, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians. A committed leader in academia, he also serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at both the University of Houston College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Conroe, Texas, while teaching emergency medicine techniques as the Emergency Medical Services Program Medical Director at Wharton County Junior College in Wharton, Texas.

Outside of City of Hope, Dr. Ladi is an avid classic car aficionado who loves attending car club shows and enjoys golfing, traveling and cooking.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
