About Me

"My heart lies with cancer care," says Jordan Waypa, Research Nurse Practitioner with City of Hope Phoenix. "And with a focus on research, I have the chance to bring new treatments to our patients."

Waypa studied nursing at Grand Canyon University, completing her Bachelor of Science in 2009. She specialized in cancer from the start of her career as a Staff Nurse with a large hospital in Phoenix. Working in acute oncology, she provided care to patients undergoing chemotherapy and surgery, remaining in close contact with families throughout the treatment process. She also served as a liaison among physicians and as a patient advocate.

In 2014, Waypa completed an Advanced Practice Nurse degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner through Frontier Nursing University, graduating among the top in her class. Wishing to expand her skills, she joined an urgent care facility as Family Nurse Practitioner, providing comprehensive care to adults and children.

Waypa joined City of Hope in July 2015, returning to cancer care and focusing on the research of new approaches in cancer treatment. "We have an ever-expanding array of new options," says Waypa, "and we are focused on providing the optimal care for our patients."

When she is not at City of Hope, Waypa loves being outdoors, hiking and camping with her husband and their dog.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
