With more than 30 years of experience, Teresa Burnett pulls from her deep experience to help patients as a Behavioral Health Therapist at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Tulsa. Burnett assists patients in using their physical, psychological, spiritual and social resources to promote health and healing.

Burnett understands that cancer does not just impact the body; it affects the mind and spirit as well. She focuses on the psychological well-being of patients as they undergo cancer treatment and provides individual, couple, family and caregiver counseling in the Behavioral Health Department.

“My goal is to strengthen patients’ emotional and mental resources to help them reduce stress and anxiety and focus their energies on healing,” says Burnett. “I try to provide a safe and comfortable atmosphere for patients and caregivers to process concerns, share joys, ask questions and learn new things about themselves.”

A licensed clinical social worker and board-certified music therapist, Burnett has an extensive background working in a variety of healthcare settings. She completed a bachelor's degree in music therapy from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. Burnett earned her master’s degree in social work from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma.

Outside of CTCA, Burnett enjoys spending time with her family, friends and dogs. She likes being in nature and at the beach. Burnett also finds enjoyment from singing, playing piano and making music with others.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
