September 24, 2020

Only Hospital in Illinois Certified by the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers® Program

Zion, Ill., Sept 14, 2020 - For the seventh consecutive year, Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) Chicago has been recognized as a top center in the country for providing quality breast cancer care by the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers (NQMBC®) program. CTCA® Chicago is the only center in Illinois, and one of only 55 centers nationally, to be recognized as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence™, reinforcing the hospital’s position as a national leader in breast cancer care.

“Our quality metrics indicate that CTCA Chicago has a strong commitment to providing the highest quality of breast health to its patients. CTCA Chicago’s Breast Program has been a Certified Breast Center of Excellence since 2013. CTCA has grown throughout and improved with each year.” said Aerial Gilbert, Manager of the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers (NQMBC) Program. “Comparing quality performance is an essential tool in assessing patient care and improving breast cancer care as a whole.”

As part of the NCBC, the NQMBC is a voluntary program that identifies quality of care measures, provides immediate access to quality information and allows breast centers to compare their performance with other centers across the United States and beyond. In addition to the requirements to become a Certified Participant, the applicant must have supplied 90 percent of the measures for which their quality breast cancer type should be able to measure performance and performed above the 25th percentile.

“CTCA Chicago is honored to be recognized for the seventh year in a row as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence,” said Pete Govorchin, President and CEO of CTCA Chicago. “We strive to deliver the highest quality of patient safety and clinical quality and NQMBC’s validation of those efforts is an important part of that.&rdquo

Additionally, the Breast Cancer Center at CTCA Chicago is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certification Program for meeting the highest standards of quality cancer care.
